Twin nephews will be playing basketball at a small college in 24-25 with full Pell. Coach suggested summer classes to work out with team and do FASFA for 23‐24 to pay for summer. Is this still possible without messing up 24-25 Pell?

The same rules apply to everywhere whether it’s a community college or an Ivy League. She essentially said a whole lot of nothing towards the question for 30 seconds.

Here are couple of pieces of advice for a person with a low SAT score: 1. Study harder and smarter for the SAT. For example, find out your weaknesses and strengths. If your student did not do well on the SAT Reading and Writing section, work on practicing grammar and reading comprehension. Also, analyze the mistakes and see why your answers are objectively wrong. The same thing applies for the SAT math. If your student struggled with algebra and/or geometry, then work on algebra and/or geometry. Also, learn some tricks on the SAT including Plug in the Answer or Process of Elimination. 2. Try taking a practice ACT. Some people do better on the ACT than the SAT. If your student does better on the ACT than the SAT, go with the ACT. Personally, I found the ACT slightly better than the SAT. 3. If your university is test optional, do not submit your test scores. That said, your student needs to have taken myriads of honors and AP classes and need to ace them. Perhaps, even take some AP exams and pass them. If your student is not doing well on the AP Exams but doing well on AP classes, then that means your high school is not challenging your student or that your student is not adequately preparing for AP exams. Having a low test score, does not mean you will not get into a good university. My younger cousin who had a low ACT and SAT score (a 22 ACT score) and (an 1110 SAT score [600 SAT math but 510 reading and writing]) but had a high GPA (a 4.0 weighted GPA) and got into UC Santa Cruz for fall of 2020. Now, he is on track to graduate from UCSC in the summer of 2024. His major is Business Management Economics with a concentration in Mathematics. Best of luck to students with low test scores.

ACT less reading and math questions. Science section is the reading section but with graphs so there’s much less interpretation your just looking at numbers, it’s reading but easier (can seriously boost your overall average). And writing is low key fun just demonstrate the point clearly don’t have to be fancy. Also 1/3 of the math questions are easy and the other 1/3 is medium it’s only about 20 That are significantly more challenging.
